Via Zoom, these sessions are open to Gippsland Writers Network members to work on their WIP or start something new.

After a welcome and introduction, you’ll be invited to work on your project in a series of timed sprints before catching up for a short debrief at the end. Prompts are available if you want!

Winter Short Story Competition

Theme: Ice

Send us your spec fic, horror, fantasy, literary, historical, or uncategorised words! Use your imagination, twist it up, make us stop and take a breath.Entries must be fiction and address the theme of 'ice'. Entries must be no longer than 200 words. The competition closes 5pm Monday 31 August 2026.

$5 entry fee for GWN paid members; $10 standard fee.

  • 1st Prize: $100 cash

  • 2 runners-up certificates

Creative Writing Workshop: Plot Happens

Bernineit, Phillip Island: Saturday 10 October 10am to 2pm

At least a little plotting before you dive into writing a story, whether it’s short or long-form fiction, pays off. It helps you push the boundaries for your characters and you the writer. Guides you on how to entice readers, make them care, keep them reading and leave them satisfied. This fun and interactive workshop with Sandi Wallace will explore plotting and how you can apply it to your way of writing.
